That amount of icons can be confusing for new players. I think one icon showing in mode in which you play actually works better.

Players can check your bones number in the leaderboard, of course if you have enough for be in this leaderboard.

Bones is something what you can grind. They works also as scoring system in ruins and collecting this you gaining score.

I'am not sure sprites from game can help you. Better idea is found example graphic and make with it sprite :]

I can send you barbarian sprite which you can use as size example.
