I hate it when someone cuts me in half with a war axe because i used my shield on the other side of my body therefore leaving 75% of my body vulnrable
That's how shield works in real life, no? You can't block attacks coming from the back when you facing the other way. Probably the best things in game now that had to be implemeted long time ago.
Give us one good reason. It was a valuable change.
